Surveillance Station recording / retention not working

A community-sourced answer, with sources. Ask the AI a follow-up for your exact setup.

Check these settings in Surveillance Station > Recording:

- Pre-recording time / Post-recording time: increase them if you want triggered events to be recorded more completely.
- Keep the files within (days): recordings older than this will be deleted automatically.
- Limit the archive folder up to (GB): when this limit is reached, the oldest recordings are overwritten by new ones.
- Use Estimate Required Space to see how much space the camera may need for continuous recording with current settings.

If recordings are missing or interrupted, also check:
- Camera connection in Surveillance Station > Log > System Log for repeated “Camera connection was lost” messages.
- Video format: inconsistent codec settings between Surveillance Station and the camera can affect recording performance.
