Synology Moments was replaced by Synology Photos in DSM 7. The knowledge base says Synology Photos is the successor to Photo Station and Synology Moments, and it combines them into one package available on DSM 7.0 and above. It also notes that after updating to DSM 7.0, Hyper Backup tasks that include Synology Moments and Photo Station will no longer back up those two packages, so you should set the original tasks to back up Synology Photos instead.
What changed in migration:
- My Photo Library data from /home/Drive/Moments moved to /home/Photos.
- If Shared Photo Library was enabled, the original /photo folder became the Shared Space source folder in Synology Photos.
- Shared Photo Library permissions were migrated.
- Synology Photos keeps Timeline View and Folder View.
Also note the following limitations from the knowledge base:
- Synology Photos does not support Synology Photo Station Uploader.
- Synology Photos does not support the DAT video format.
- Facial recognition is only supported on certain models.
I don’t have any more detailed migration steps in the provided fragments.
