Share albums and links in Synology Photos

A community-sourced answer, with sources. Ask the AI a follow-up for your exact setup.

In Synology Photos:

1. In Photos or Albums, select photos/videos and click the share icon.
2. Enable the share link.
3. Choose Privacy Settings:
- Public: anyone with the link can view/download.
- Private: only assigned DSM users/groups can access.
4. Set Link Protection if needed:
- Require password
- Expire on
5. For Private, use the Invitee List:
- Select a DSM user/group
- Assign Viewer, Downloader, or Provider
- Click the add button
6. Click OK.

You can manage these later in Sharing > Shared With Others.

Notes:
- In Synology Photos, shared items are listed under Sharing.
- Shared albums in the older Photo Station worked mainly through links; people needed the link to view them.
- If you only want collaboration, non-admin users can share photos only if Allow non-admin users to share photos is enabled in Account > Settings > Global.
