The knowledge base has no single, direct answer for “move everything, including all data and settings” in one simple procedure, but it does provide these migration options:
- HDD migration transfers data in shared folders only; system configurations and package data/settings are not included. It also notes that the destination NAS must have the same DSM version or newer than the source, and the destination must support the required file system. [8], [9]
- In the older DSM 5.x migration flow, you can restore a configuration backup after migration to bring back system settings. The steps shown are:
- Go to Control Panel > Update & Restore
- Open Configuration Backup
- Click Restore configuration
- Choose All System Configurations [10]
- For high-availability clusters, the guide says migration can replace servers in the cluster without losing the original cluster data, and it requires:
- both NAS devices to run the same DSM version
- the same drives and Ethernet cable configurations
- supported/same or compatible models [1]
So, based on the knowledge base:
- If you want data only, use HDD migration. [8], [11]
- If you want data plus settings, the fragments only show the old approach of migration plus configuration backup/restore in DSM 5.x, and they do not provide a modern single-step “keep everything” procedure for DSM 6/7. [10]
- If your environment is a high-availability cluster, the SHA guide describes migration/replacement within that cluster. [1]
