They’re basically the same platform: both have the same CPU, the same 32 GB RAM ceiling, the same 4 bays with expansion to 8 via RX418, and neither has built-in 10GbE or M.2. The decisive difference is power: the RS822RP+ has redundant hot-swap PSUs, while the RS822+ has a single PSU. For a home or typical SMB buyer, pick the RS822+ unless you specifically need redundant power.
