Choose the RS814+ if you need more performance headroom: it has the faster CPU, higher RAM ceiling, and is the only one of the two that can take 10GbE; the RS814 does not. Both are 4-bay units with no M.2 support, and neither has built-in expansion in the sense of a bigger internal drive count beyond those 4 bays.
