Which should you buy?

Choose the FS2500 if you want a newer, much faster platform with 10GbE built in and support for M.2 SSDs; it uses an AMD Ryzen V1780B, can take up to 32 GB RAM, and has 12 bays with no expansion. Choose the FS3017 only if you need far more capacity and expansion headroom: it uses a slower Intel Xeon D-1541, supports up to 128 GB RAM, has 24 bays plus expansion, includes 10GbE, and does not support M.2.
