Pick the DS920+ if you want the faster Intel Celeron J4125 with integrated Quick Sync for media/transcoding and a lower-cost, more mature all-round home NAS. Pick the DS923+ if you want the newer AMD Ryzen R1600, higher RAM ceiling, optional 10GbE via add-on, and better long-term upgrade path with the same 4 bays plus 1 DX517 expansion unit. The DS923+ also has dual M.2 slots for cache, but it lacks the DS920+’s Intel iGPU hardware transcoding.
