Choose the DS725+ only if you want the newer platform and its higher performance headroom: it uses a newer CPU, supports more RAM than the DS723+, and includes built-in 2.5GbE with M.2 NVMe support for cache/storage. The DS723+ is the simpler/value pick if you don’t need those upgrades, but both are 2-bay units with expansion support for a DX517, not 10GbE built in. If you care most about cheaper entry and proven compatibility, pick DS723+; if you want better networking and future-proofing, pick DS725+.
