Choose the DS723+ if you want a newer Ryzen CPU, a higher RAM ceiling, and native 10GbE support via expansion, which makes it the better long-term pick for SMB use. The DS720+ has an Intel CPU with built-in Quick Sync, which can matter for media transcoding, but it tops out at a lower RAM ceiling and lacks the newer expansion options. Both are 2-bay units with 2 M.2 slots, but the DS723+ is the more future-proof choice unless you specifically need Intel iGPU transcoding.
