Choose the DS715 if you want the newer/better overall platform: it has a faster CPU, supports more RAM, and is the better base for a small business or growing home setup. Both are 2-bay units, neither has native 10GbE, and neither includes M.2 slots; if you need expansion beyond 2 drives, you’d be looking at a larger model instead.
