Choose the DS423+ if you want a much faster Intel Celeron CPU, far more RAM headroom, and better upgrade/expandability. The DS423+ has 4 bays like the DS420j, but the DS423+ supports RAM expansion, 10GbE via add-on, and M.2 NVMe slots; the DS420j is the basic entry model with lower-end CPU, limited RAM, and no 10GbE or M.2.
