Choose the DS2015XS if you need the bigger build and higher-end platform: it has a more powerful Xeon-class CPU, much higher RAM ceiling, built-in 10GbE, and M.2 support. Choose the DS1825+ if you want the newer 8-bay unit and more flexible expansion, but expect a weaker CPU, lower RAM ceiling, and no built-in 10GbE/M.2. For a home/SMB buyer, the DS2015XS is the better choice for heavier virtualization or fast networking; the DS1825+ is the better fit for simple storage expansion.
