Choose the DS112 for its faster Marvell 1.6 GHz CPU and 512 MB RAM versus the DS112j’s 1.2 GHz CPU and 128 MB, but both have one drive bay with no expansion, no 10GbE, and no M.2 support. For basic backup and file sharing the DS112j is adequate; for heavier multitasking, choose the DS112.
