Choose the DS110+ if you want a much faster, more capable unit: it has a stronger CPU and far more RAM headroom, while the DS109J is the slower, entry-level model. Both are 1-bay NAS boxes, so neither offers bay expansion; neither has 10GbE or M.2 support.
