Choose the DS415+ if you want the more capable NAS: it uses a faster Intel CPU, has a higher RAM ceiling, and is the better pick for heavier multitasking and business workloads. The DS415PLAY is more media-focused and cheaper, but both are 4-bay units with no expansion support, no 10GbE, and no M.2 slots.
