Pick the DS413 if you want the newer, faster box for a basic 4-bay setup: it uses an Intel Atom-class CPU, supports a higher RAM ceiling than the DS412+, and is the better choice if you care about throughput. Choose the DS412+ only if you specifically need its expansion options; neither model has 10GbE or M.2, and both are 4-bay units with no built-in expansion to more internal bays.
